Tara Moser, LCSW, RPT-S, CAAPT, specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. She is the owner of Delta Family Counseling, LLC. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida (#SW8379). Tara also specializes in Play Therapy with children 2 -18 years old, as well as incorporates animal assisted play therapy into her clinical work utilizing her three dogs Abbey, Bode, and Lennon. Tara is actively involved in the Association for Play Therapy and The National Association of Social Workers at local, state, and national levels. She is the first mental health professional in Florida to become credentialed in Animal Assisted Play Therapy through the International Institute for Animal Assisted Play Therapy.
Tara has worked in a variety of therapeutic roles including foster care, non-profit family counseling, non-profit individual counseling, elementary school based counseling programs, adolescent drug prevention/intervention, behavioral therapy with autism, domestic violence counseling, and supervised visitation, in addition to her private practice. Tara’s counseling approach is client centered in that each session is unique to meet the client’s needs and utilizes tools that are most effective for the client to be expressive such as play, music, animals, and art. More often with the younger children, non-directive and directive modalities of play therapy are utilized. Cognitive-behavioral approaches and family system approaches are also utilized.
Tara also teaches across the country on a variety of topics including Animal Assisted Play Therapy, Supervised Visitation, Play Therapy, Suicide prevention, child development and more.
Tara is the founder of Pawsitive Kids Camp. A non-profit camp offered during school breaks that teams up children in elementary and middle school with dogs in foster care through local rescues waiting to be adopted. This innovative camp offers support and growth for the kids and dogs in areas of behavioral management, self esteem, boundaries, communication, and social skills.
Most recently Tara and her husband have launched their writing skills with publishing their first book. Bode the Beach Dog: Life is Ruff recently won an award in the children’s book category! In this book, Bode (one of the certified therapy dogs at the practice) overcomes his fear and relates to readers with tools to help overcome their own fears! More books are in the works!
